Hunger games essay Have you ever been taken away from you family and friends? Been forced into a game where to stay alive is the only way to win? That is what the hunger game is. A violent game that 24 contestants are chosen to fight one another and the winner will never have to work again.

In the Hunger games Suzanne Collins uses characterization to show how Katniss uses survival techniques the love for her family and friends and tested her trust to the people around her.The love Katniss show in the book is very relevant right at the beginning of the book when Prim, Katniss younger sister, is choose to be in the hunger games. Katniss’s love for her sister propels her to volunteer and take Prim’s place in the Hunger Games. She knows that if she goes into the hunger games she will die but does it anyway.

Katniss doesn’t just love her sister she also loves her mom, the town she lives in, and a boy named Gale.She desprentaly want to go home once she leaves and fights for her freedom to go home throughout the book. Her relationship with gale is confusing to her but reader know that she loves him “Finally, Gale is here and maybe there is nothing romantic between us, but when he opens his arms I don’t hesitate to go into them” (Collins 38) She tries to deny it but readers should be able to figure it out. Katniss knows how to survive and survival is the key factor to winning the hunger games.From the beginning you know that Katniss can hunt and this helps win the hunger games but survival is not just hunting its being smarter than your prey and knowing how to outwit your opponents. When Katniss was dropped into the Hunger Games arena she was one of the best hunters which gave her an advantage because some of the other contestants could not hunt at all. Before the Katniss was chosen to be in the Hunger games she also had to survive by collecting her own herbs and meat to feed her family and in rough times she would be starving and spent some time starving.

While some of the other contestants never knew what being hungry was like which also gave Katniss an upper hand on her opponents. Trust was a big issue while Katniss was competing in the Hunger Games. Peeta is the male chosen one of district twelve and is kind of like Katniss’s partner that she will eventually have to kill. When Katniss says “the more likeable he is, the more deadly he is” it reminds the reader that she can never really trust anyone in the Hunger game and that that is another difficulty in its own.Because human need other human to stay sane and not being able to think that you can trust anyone, may drive people crazy.

So when Katniss pairs up with Rue it is difficult to really ever trust each other because eventually they will die or have to kill the other. That is just another reason why Katniss did so well is because some how she over look that. The Hunger Games is one of the best books I have ever read and how Suazzane Collins did a fantastic job on showing how good she did. Suzanne Collins hunger games
