In this work, we approach the novel Pedro Páramo, by Juan Rulfo, focusing especially on the mythical discourse as a fundamental element of the novel, in order especially to the criticism of the caciquismo represented inThe analysis of the literary text with the mythical thinking will start from the critical perspective and from certain theoretical contributions of the hermeneutics that will allow us to focus on the mythical schemes that underlie the novel. the figure of Pedro Páramo.
If we analyze the novel from the processes of transculturation, which indicate the prehispanic influences in the novel, and, particularly, being told from two myths underlying the text: the myth of the search for the father and the journey to the underworld. We will see, precisely, that both myths suggest a social critique closely linked to the Mexican revolution.
