Summary
The data showed no statistical significance in abstinence based on whether a SUD patient had or did not have cognitive testing. Additionally, patient ethnicity and SES status were surveyed to determine if disparities of care might exist in SUD treatment, however, none of these variables were significant. Also, an important issue is that respondents were not surveyed as to what kind of cognitive testing they had performed. Future research could address the issue of what tests (WAIS, WASI, etc.) would best serve this population with respect to achieving better outcomes related to the diagnosis and treatment of SUD populations and if cognitive testing could lead to better outcomes related to quality of care.
