What Struck You In Particular as You Explored the Course Materials This Week
What struck me as I explored the course materials is that learning about history is fun and not challenging as I thought. I was very afraid of having difficulties during the course and thought that history did not matter in today’s generation but I was surprised on how much history has influenced today’s happenings (Barnes & Bowles, 2014). Most of the laws, policies, and movements have been shaped by the earlier events. Most of the positive things happening today are also because of the early events (Barnes & Bowles, 2014).
Although there was a lot to process on the topic about the rise of conservatism, it answered many questions, which I have always wondered about their origin. This knowledge has changed my thinking and perceptions on movements and policies enacted to protect certain groups of the United States. I have also clear information on the topic of racism and why activists keep on demonstrating demanding for equality and equal rights (Barnes & Bowles, 2014). This information will be useful to me even after the completion of the course.

What Insights Have You Had
The course materials are important in understanding where our nation the United States is coming from and how it has been shaped by different factors. This has given me a new perspective on how I view the country and some of the groups in the United States (Barnes & Bowles, 2014). The freedom that we have today is largely attributed to the early populations who fought very hard to make sure that everyone had a suitable environment and freedom (Barnes & Bowles, 2014). Their efforts were not in vain since today, most of the American populations are enjoying the fruits of the efforts made by these groups (Barnes & Bowles, 2014). Many efforts have been put on the immigrants and African Americans neglecting the Native Americans. Not much has been done for the betterment of the Native Americans who are still being affected by inequalities in the nation. Learning history is a good platform to understand most of the current issues today and future planning (Barnes & Bowles, 2014).
