Mizoram was before known as Lushai Hills and it was district of Assam since colonial period

Mizoram was before known as Lushai Hills and it was district of Assam since colonial period. With the coming of the British administration ,consistent managerial set-up was set up in the Lushai Hills in 1891. Mizoram started to encounter appointive legislative issues since the Lushai Hills Advisory Council decision which was hung on fifteenth April, 1948 and 36 members were chosen in the entire Lushai Hills geological zone by secret ballet from the very much delineated single part voting demographics. In short the uniqueness of elections in Mizoram lies in the useful instructing and indirect involvement of the churches and civil societies have contributed a lot of peaceful conduct of elections in the state. While, activities of political parties started in Mizoram with the development of Mizo Union (MU) as a political party on ninth April, 1946 by R.Vanlawma with the consent of the then Superintendent of the Lushai Hills, ARH Macdonald. It seems that in all the past State Legislative Assembly General Elections till the seventh General Election the main rivals for power are the MNF party (Regional party ) and the Indian National Congress (National party) despite the fact that other political parties had contested in the elections.
