It has been argued in several cases that mass media has depicted women in an overly sexualised way. Due to this women have become marginalised. Popular culture since the beginning in the 1920s has portrayed women in a way which in a result has allowed men to devalue women and treat women as an object rather than as a human being. The Guardian reveals that the older women get the less dialogue they get in films. A survey from 2,000 movies shows that female actresses are marginalised when it comes to the age as early as 40, however the treatment towards males of a similar age is the opposite and actually benefits older men.
