What if you woke up in the morning

What if you woke up in the morning, and find yourself in the middle of a war only being able to rely on her friends without a warning? It turns out that Ellie who is the protagonist wakes up not knowing what is going on and is in a war with her friends who she’s been camping with. Most people who wake up don’t end up in a war like Ellie and her camping friends. People would not even try to fight in war help being unprepared and with no weapons. Unlike Ellie, the protagonist, changes throughout the entire story being positive in the beginning, to then putting herself down, and then being relax because the war was over.
Ellie who is the protagonist which is the main character changes by the end of the story. For example, Ellie changes throughout the entire story because we learn that she is very positive, caring and outgoing. Then during the middle of the story Ellie changes to being scared not knowing what happened to her parents and finding out that there is a war. A quote to explain this example is “She picked up the phone and handed it to me. I turned it to “Talk” and started pressing numbers, then realized that I’d heard no dial tone. I held it closer to my ear. There was nothing. I felt a new kind of fear now; a kind of fear I hadn’t even known about before” (Marsden 30). This example shows how the main character Ellie changes because Ellie goes from being positive and idyllic to then being very worried and scared. Another example of how Ellie changes throughout the story is during the end of the story Ellie was forced to kill the soldiers to save herself and her friends which is something that Ellie would never do. This examples tell us that Ellie changed from being scared to then being brave and sacrificing for herself and her friends. Last example of how the protagonist Ellie changes is that during the middle of the story Ellie gets worried then during the end Ellie becomes a leader and doesn’t abandon her friends unlike what most people would do in Ellie’s situation.
The protagonist of the story Tomorrow when the War Began, Ellie changes in an important way by the end of the story by becoming a team leader in the group.. For example Ellie had a huge task and that was to save her friend Lee. In the beginning of the story Ellie was terrified of weapons, guns, and even violent eruptions. Ellie was risking her own life to save her friends but Ellie change during the middle of the story and showed us how brave she was to save her friends Lee and Robyn from war. Ellie changing in the story to be very pugnacious was important because her friends would of died if Ellie didn’t change into a team leader. Quote from the novel to support this is “I thought you didn’t believe in friendship anymore,” Kevin said. “Seems a hell of a risk to go to Lee’s, if we’re so worried about saving ourselves” (Marsden 37-38). This quote from Kevin to Ellie shows us how important Ellie is in the story and how the Protagonist changes because she changes from being scared and frightened from weapons and guns to being so brave risking her own life just to save her friends. Another example of how Ellie changes to be an important character throughout the story is that Ellie played as a team leader in the end of the story by having another mission to accomplish on her own. Ellie had to steal a gasoline tank and then sneak that take down to the bridge and drive under the guards of soldiers and save Lee in the process. And the last example of how Ellie changes into by the end of the book is when Ellie adapts to new situations and surviving skills. Ellie does this by saving her friends and becoming the team leader of the friend group. In the story Tomorrow When The War Began written by John Marsden, the author has showed us how Ellie played an important role in the story.
Ellie, who is the protagonist in the story Tomorrow When the War Began played an important role who changes by the end of the story. In the beginning of the story Ellie was easygoing and assiduous. Towards the end Ellie changed into a matured, grown up person. For example Ellie turns into a matured person when she is fighting in war. Quote from the novel to explain is “A month ago we were teenagers… now we’re soldiers, we won’t run, we won’t hide, we’ll fight, and keep fighting, and never give up, until this war is finally won” (Marsden 173). This quote from Ellie shows us how she changed throughout the novel because Ellie was known as a tomboy and somebody who is afraid of violence and Ellie is now a matured team leader. Another example of how the protagonist, Ellie changes by the end of the story is that who is described as a tomboy in the beginning of the story changes and has a love relationship with Lee. This is very important because Ellie saving Lee from war develop their love relationship. Last example of how Ellie is described to be an important person by the end of the novel is that Ellie will never be the old Ellie because by the end of the novel we discover a new Ellie after winning the war. The novel clearly shows that anyone can experience change at any circumstances during their life. Tomorrow When the War Began also shows that everyone in their life will experience a change similar to Ellie.
