After reading GCU mission and vision statement and the AACN’s Essentials for Master’s Education for Advanced Practice nursing, both have similarities that focus on providing students with a wealth of knowledge and information and prepare them to use critical thinking in their work force area. Both organizations expect its students to possess strong decision making and the ability to think critically. The students are expected to possess teaching skills, effective communication and assume leadership role to deliver the best quality of care to patients, families and the community they serve.
Both GCU and AACN believe that a master-prepared nurse should be an active participant to lead change, promote health and elevate care in various roles and settings.
