The timing of the events help to build suspense

The timing of the events help to build suspense. For example, the narrator goes into the old man’s room each night for seven days, and shines a small light on the old man’s eye, it makes the readers think what he will do, that builds suspense. And finally he kills the old man on the eight night. “It grew louder quicker and quicker, and louder and louder every instant” (Poe 92). This quote creates suspense by making the reader think to make it seem more like dire, anxious, and helps the reader to imagine the stress the narrator is feeling.
