It was followed by “students who frequently take a back seat because you spend most of your time to your smart phones and smart tablet” rank the second highest WM of 1.98 which corresponds to Moderate Extent. On the other hand “students who hardly pay attention to what is going in the class as students are too busy surfing or updating status in Facebook” got the lowest WM of 1.8 only which corresponds to Moderate Extent.
It conforms to the study by According to Alexander (2004) the high school and universities such as California University and Middlebury High School and others, even the world are looking for the mobile devices such as Smart phones and smart tablet.
The universities and even the world are aiming to integrate smartphone devices in order to enhance the education of their students. Smart phones and smart tablets are a great resource specifically in classroom, it has a helpful applications such as dictionaries which able the students to find meaning to a jargon words into a simpler one. Also, students can easily research, information in Google that enables them to understand clearly a topic.
The data interprets that smart phones and smart tablet can really help the students learning performance in terms to their cognitive aspects.
According to Duncan, Hoekstra and Wilcox (2012) Students who are reported that uses smart phones or smart tablet regularly especially during class, showed an average negative grade on a four-point scale. Students who used smart phones or smart tablet during discussion inside the classroom wherein the student’s used these devices not for informational purposes but for entertainment, it would really affect to the students grade.
The researchers also found companion on their smart phones. It serves as their stress reliever and helps them reduce their anxiety and depression. Smart phones and smart tablets are devices that can help to control depression, because users got entertained and with this they forgot their problems that cause their depression.
Generally, the data can be gleaned that the factors above in cognitive aspect of the students is Moderate Extent. Where in Smart phones and smart tablet can help the students to understand the lesson especially if their smartphones or smart tablet are present during the discussion and they can scan more information with the use of it.
