The Gulf of Khambhat Development Project envisages the construction of Dam across the Gulf of Khambhat, connecting Kalatalav in Bhavnagar District and Aladar in Bharuch District, reducing distance between Saurashtra & South Gujarat by approximately about 150 to 170 Km.

The development of Gulf of Khambhat Development Project will boost the development in Saurashtra significantly. The proposed road over a dam will change the existing traffic scenario drastically. There is going to be significant development activity in the study area in view of the development of DMIC corridor, Dholera SIR, PCPIR and Fedra International Airport. Hence, a new detailed traffic study is warranted to assess the future traffic flow and pattern when Gulf of Khambhat Development Project is developed. The outputs of the study will provide the basis in determining the width of the proposed dam, and the road network improvements required for the smooth and efficient movement of passengers and goods and the social economic benefits of the transport component of the project.
