WWF’s goal is to conserve 19 of the world’s most important natural places and significantly change global forces to protect the future of nature. Just a few of these 19 places include; the Amazon, the Arctic, Coastal East Africa, The Coral Triangle and the Galapagos. According to www. panda.

org, we are using nearly 30% more natural resources than the Earth can replenish and our activities are drastically changing the planet’s climate.If this statistic stays true it is going to become a major problem. If this system breaks down there will be no chance of survival.

An essential part of WWF’s efforts to influence the course of conservation is their partnerships. WWF has 4 different kinds of partnerships: corporate, government, humanitarian, and marketing.Some of WWF’s corporate partners are, IKEA, Nike, HP, Johnson & Johnson, Toyota, and The Coca Cola Company. WWF uses its global reach, scientific expertise, and in-depth knowledge to help all of these companies improve their business practices to make them more eco-friendly. By working with these companies WWF is dealing with natural resource shortages, supply chain issues, the environmental footprint of products and services, and climate change.

WWF has a strong belief that public-private partnerships can greatly benefit their strategy to save the future of nature.WWF is partnered with and receives funds from, the U. S. Agency for International Development, the U. S.

Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, the U. S. Department of State, and the U. S. Department of Agriculture.

WWF has used its partnership with the American Red Cross to give advice on better practices for rebuilding communities impacted by disaster. The goal of their Humanitarian Partnerships Program is to ensure that recovery and reconstruction efforts include environmentally sustainable considerations.By utilizing all of these partnerships WWF has raised a lot of global awareness of their cause and made an enormous positive impact on the Earth’s environment. WWF is also very concerned about the communities and indigenous people located and living near the natural places they work to protect.

These people depend on the environment for survival, and throughout their history they have developed traditions and practices that sustainably manage their natural resources. Some of the problems these communities face are; outside competition for land and resources, conflict with wildlife, and human population growth.WWF helps these people and communities conserve resources while improving their livelihoods by incorporating elements of governance, gender relations, health, and education into their conservation work. WWF is giving communities across the world the chance to reduce poverty, improve socio-economic conditions, and become environmental leaders in conservation. WWF is an incredibly important organization that everyone should support.

3 of the easiest ways to help WWF’s cause are donating money, “adopting” a species, and participating in Earth Hour.Approximately 60% of its funding comes from voluntary donations made by private individuals. Donations of any amount can be made online on the WWF website. You can also choose between doing a one-time or monthly donation. With most donations you get something in return like a WWF aluminum water bottles, WWF t-shirts, or WWF tote bags.

When it comes to “adopting” a species there are 100 to choose from just a few of which are; arctic fox, tiger, panda, polar bear, sea turtle, and snowy owl. There are 3 different sized adoption kits, $25, $50, and $100.With the $25 kit you will receive an adoption certificate, species info card and a photo. The $50 kit includes all of this and a stuffed animal version of the species you select and a gift bag and the $100 kit include this and a frame and gift box instead of a bag. Earth Hour is a global event that was launched 3 years ago where everyone can take action by simply turning off his or her lights for one hour. According to www. yearthhour.

org this past March 27th, an estimated one billion people around the world participated in earth hour. An article from the New York Times stated that lights even went out in the Empire State Building, in the National Cathedral in Washington D. C.

, and in the Coca-Cola Headquarters in Atlanta. Everyone from individuals to monuments to corporations are turning off their lights for Earth Hour.
