Nursing is unlike any other profession due to its complexity and ever-changing dynamic. Even in the last couple of years, the nursing profession has changed drastically. Nurses today are caring for patients with higher level acuities and more complex illnesses than ever before. With the use of today’s technology, new tests, drugs and research are being conducted in order to help treat and cure these conditions. During this transformation, one thing has remained constant in the nursing profession; the goal to care for our patients by restoring, maintaining, and promoting good health. This goal with which we work to achieve all began with nursing leader Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale was one of the first leaders that helped shape nursing into what it is today.
The progression of nursing first began with Florence Nightingales in the 1800’s.
