ABSTRACT

Road network is known to be the back bone of any country and it is directly related to development of the country especially economy and prosperity of that country. Pakistan is considered an underdeveloped country as there are not so much efforts in making or even improving the road networks. Poor drainage system is the main factor in worsening the roads. Also severe environmental effects helps in roads damaging. HMA Wheel Tracker test is carried out in order to investigate the damaging effects of moisture susceptibility. The effect of unmodified binder (ARL 60/70) is checked in this test . The aggregates used in the research work were procured from Dina quarries.

The research objective is carried out to find the rutting using dry and wet conditions and check how moisture effect the road structure as well. Total 12 samples are tested, six samples are dry(unconditioned) and other six samples are wet(conditioned). At every 1000 passes value of rutting is noted from the WTT machine and final value will be noted after 10,000 passes. After the testing, we compare the rutting depth of dry and wet condition. From the result, it is cleared that the rutting will be more at high temperature and rutting depth will be more at wet conditions as compared to dry conditions. In order to resolve such a problem proper maintenance, good drainage and design will be highly matter by controlling these objects we can minimize the rutting effect.
