Dolores Soto Monroe College Jumpstart Essay I am a junior at DeWitt Clinton High School. This is my third year being part of the Future Educators program. I look forward to continuing this program throughout my senior year. I am also honored and very excited to be a candidate for the Monroe College Jumpstart program. When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site.
Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment.Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in the Monroe College Jumpstart program.
She influenced me to work as hard as I can to achieve what I want in life. My grades remained strong and I remained positive about my education. I believe education is extremely important so I have decided to become a teacher. I want to create positive relationships with children and help them become self-sufficient.
I believe nurturing children’s intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth is very important in youth development. Accomplishing their goals and dreams is something I wish I can be a part of. I hope to attend a 4-year college or university and receive a bachelors degree in education. I am currently researching different colleges and universities to attend. I would be perfectly happy staying home with my family and continuing my education, but I am interested in attending an out of state college to gain the experience of living without them.I would also like to obtain my masters degree once I am settled in with my career as an educator.
Today, I take my education very seriously and I will continue to do so in the future. I will stay focused, positive and goal oriented. One day in the near future, I will return the favor to society by becoming a positive role model for the youth and providing them with the same positive educational environment I received.
