Immigration hire illegal immigrants for day labor

Immigration Issues in Modern America (a paper explaining immigration in a non biased way) Immigration has been a major source of population growth and cultural change throughout much of American history. According to the Brookings Institute News Letter, “the economic, social and political aspects of immigration have caused controversy regarding ethnicity, economic benefits, jobs for non-immigrants and crime.

” Presently, in the United States immigration is a hot topic, especially in light of Arizona’s newly passed law that makes it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. The Arizona law requires local police officers to question people about their immigration status, if there is any reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants. The Arizona law also allows lawsuits against government agencies that hinder enforcement of immigration laws; it makes it illegal to hire illegal immigrants for day labor or to knowingly transport them. The main issues concerning the United Sates concerning immigration debate are loss of jobs to immigrants, crimes committed by immigrants and the rejection of United States culture by immigrants. These issues persist regardless if the immigrant in the United States is here legally or illegally.

“Any alien who is present in the United States in violation of an act or any other law of the United States is deportable. ” This mandate is from the Nationality Act Section 237(a)(1)(B). According to www.

fairus. org “The immigration authorities currently estimate that about two thirds of all illegal immigrants are entries without inspections and the remainders are people who are over stating. Immigration rates have drastically been increasing as the years go on, it is estimated that in the year 2050, twenty percent of the total American population will be immigrants. Many immigrants come to the United States to get jobs this is good because they are usually willing to take the jobs that nobody else wants. Immigrants have also brought in new styles and traditions to America, which have broadened or horizons.

First immigrants are coming to America to find jobs for themselves so they can support their families. Some are taking jobs away from well deserved Americans because they will work for lower wages. However, the immigrants are also taking jobs that nobody else wants, jobs that are essential for the United States way of life. We need to find a workable balance between immigrants coming in and working jobs that nobody wants to do, and them coming in and taking jobs away from well deserved Americans.

An easy way to make this happen is to make it a requirement for employers to check the background information of the people they are looking to hire.If the toss up is between a person who has always been a United States resident and somebody who is a new immigrant in the states, the long term resident should be the one to get the job. There should also be a high penalty for an employer if he hires an employee who is an illegal immigrant. Second, according to socyberty. com, “twenty-five percent of prison inmates are immigrants. ” This is an extremely high rate; especially since we, the United States, are opening up our country for these distant people to come in and live in our society. The leaders department of Homeland Security have said over and over that it’s not if another terrorist attack will take place, it’s when will the attack occur” The total number of immigrants pick up last year with criminal records is well over 8,000; 96 immigrants with criminal records for sex offenses were recorded since last year.

Compromising between letting in good immigrants and letting in bad ones is a hard topic because there is really no sure way to tell if an immigrant is violent or not. Fairus. rg states, “Their immigrants presence outside the law furnishes an opportunity for terrorists to blend into the same shadows while they target the American public for their terrorist crimes. ” If an immigrant gets picked up for committing a crime his punishment should be harsher than those who are citizens’ of the United States. If they are coming to America to live a better life then they shouldn’t even think about committing crimes such as sexual assaults of murders. Lastly, America is built on several different cultures that are integrated.

America was founded by foreign settlers who traveled here long ago. We have various selections of food and leisurely items because of all the different cultures brought here through the travelers. However, America would like to be known as its own nation with unique styles and traditions; but with all of the new immigrants coming in, it is hard to become separated.

As a solution, I think that we need to balance being open to new cultures without losing what we know as the true America. We need variety, or we wouldn’t have the different foods and music that we have now. However, the reason that immigrants move to America is to get away from where they came from. If they insist on bringing their culture and don’t blend it in what the American culture, then America is just going to turn into the place where the immigrants came from. In conclusion, immigration is a huge part of America right now and probably always will be.Although there are pros and cons to immigration I believe that there are always solutions to making it a level playing ground. Immigration has been a major source of population growth and cultural change throughout much of American history.
