I write to you today on behalf of global citizens to express my serious concern over mercury pollution in environment and to ask for your help in reducing mercury emission in China.
First, I would like to congratulate you on your leadership of one of the world’s largest economies and one of the world’s most powerful nations. I believe that this gives China ability to shape the world in ways that many other countries cannot do. Because of this global position, many people around the world expect China for leadership in many areas, especially environmental sustainability.
According to American Chemical Society (2006), China has been the world’s largest mercury emission source, and the amount of mercury emitted from China could become a threat to environment around the world
