here are different ways how to deal with the disagreements between children and young people

here are different ways how to deal with the disagreements between children and young people. Each school also have set of policies and procedures for managing the behaviour of children and young people to fall back on during disagreements.
When dealing with disagreement between children the first step is to calmly stop the argument and let each child explain what has happened. This could be quite challenging task as children at this age are quite emotional and could possibly be crying. By listening each child’s side of the argument we are showing that we do not take sides and we listen to both equally. After establishing the facts we would have to explain to the children what is right and wrong behaviour. This would also be a good opportunity to remind children of school’s policies and procedures. Next step we would try to make the children understand how would they feel if they were on the opposite side of argument and try to get them reach a mutual agreement.
When dealing with the disagreement between young people the first step would still be to calmly stop the argument and let each young person to explain what has happened and then encourage them to discuss the issue and reach the mutual agreement. As young people are mature we should give them opportunity to resolve their argument by themselves and only supervise if intervention is needed.
