Gabriel García Márquez, the author of the novel “Of Love and Other Demons,” was born March 6, 1927, in a small-town named Anacataca, Colombia. Gabriel García Márquez is known for winning the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1972 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982. His fiction books introduced readers to magical realism and vivid fantasy. He wrote screenplays and he continued to work as a journalist. Garcia Marquez died in Mexico City, Mexico on April 17, 2014, but he will always be known for his large output of fiction. In “Of Love and Other Demons” Garcia Marquez uses theme, symbolism, and to create a meaningful and complicated story of love.
Theme is used in the novel “Of Love and Other Demons” to show the multiple of forms of love such as familial, romantic, and religious love. The characters each have a kind of love leads to pain and misery
