For as long as I can remember
For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a better version of myself. After being an exchange student in the USA I realized that I want to study abroad but not in the first university that I found. After a research I decided that NYU in Abu Dhabi is the perfect place for me to study in.
First of all, I am eager to work with the diverse group of people that NYU accommodates. To my mind, the best and the most productive enviroment to live and work in is the enviroment of diversity. It brings perspective. Diversity brings experiences individuals of a singular background might have not have been able to imagine. In this way learning from people of other countries and cultures can create absolutely new unique problem solving decisions or just make a person more open-minded with global world outlook.
Secondly, my life is built on values. My personal values have been developed through my upbringing, living experience and education. My top three values are freedom, authenticity and wisdom. All the life choices I make depend on these factors. In my opinion, in order to achieve the trust, honesty, and success, people who have the values are needed to create a respectful environment. As for me, NYU is the example of such a community and that means that every student there strives for self-development as well as makes decisions thougthfully.
Finally, pursuing a degree in Social Research and Public Policy is a great opportunity for me to embrace the energy and complexity of the world and promote mutual understanding and shared ideas. My country is not the only country that suffers from unequal economic development and low demographic indicators because of the hostilties, war and corruption power. I want to understand the deep reasons why this is happening to certain countries as well as why inequality, racism and sexism still exist. I am sure that in NYU I will be able to develop all the necessary skills and tools to do a research and do my best to make an investment in this area.
I feel that my life experience as a High School exchange student in the USA and FLEX City Representative will help me to quickly adapt to the university life and provide an innovative perspective in the university’s community. All in all, based on the above reasons I chose NYU as my first choice university.
