Fear the number, 666
The mark of the beast, 666 has been a number feared since the stone ages. But, why is the number so feared and what does it truly represent? People say it represents the evilest anyone can think of. The number of the devil that brings curses to all upon them. Only mentioned once in the bible, stricken fear into so many people causing them to avoid the number anyway possible. In the book of revelation, it spoke of an internal battle between the material world and the Christian faith to remain strong and stay on the right path. The number 666 never had any mystical powers, curses, or charms. That is a superstition, not religion.
The number 666 originated around 70 to 90 A.D., during the time the author who was only known as John was imprisoned. In the book of Revelation, it only mentions the number one time in which it states “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man, and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” In the chapter, it references that the first beast that comes from the sea. In the bible, there is a disagreement regarding the number 666 in which it was also translated as the number 616.
In religious beliefs, the number 666 “is described as the number of a man” as it depicts a near-apocalyptic future that will determine the world. While most people think the number six-hundred and sixty-six associates with Satan, however, some people believe that it was actually a code to send to rebels about Nero, the Greek king at the time. Also “Nero Caesar” in the Hebrew alphabet is “???? ???”? NRON QSR, which when used to convert to a numbers represent 50 200 6 50 100 60 200, which add to 666. Some believe that the passage including the “Beast” was a warning about the upcoming threat of King Nero. Some people believe that when John was referring to Nero in revelation in the bible, however John wrote Revelation during 95 A.D which is after Nero’s death meaning he was referring to something else or someone else.
Furthermore people believed that John believed that Nero would one day return or someone who is very much like him. However, most people believe that it is prophesying Lucifer will return as a man within a seven year reign to rule over the earth turning more than half of the world to take his mark. He will create a one world government where there is one currency and one government. He would also persuade everyone to have one religion and that he would also rebuild the jewish temple.The number made more than half of the world’s population to fear it so much that people try to avoid it as much as they can.
However, there was a day people were fearful of, which was the day June six, two-thousand and six (06/06/2006). People expected for something big to happen on that day. Just like June six two thousand and six and the mayan calendar people were afraid of the end of the world. Everyone was fearful that something drastic would happen, something life-changing. However, it was pretty normal day for the most part.
The only slightly strange things that occurred was that a pair of twins was born. The mother of the children was saddened telling ABC news “‘I don’t want them to have this birthday. There could be a stigma attached to it,'”The mother of the children do not wish for the children to be reminded every year on their birthday that they were born on June six two thousand and six. Also to capitalize on the fact that it was the “end of the world” director John Moore released a remade version of the movie “The Omen” ( the omen was originally released June twenty-fifth of nineteen seventy-six and the remade version was released June six two-thousand and six) which was depicted a mother who lost her son before her son was born. Saddened by the loss of her unborn she accepted a newborn baby who lost his mother after pregnancy.
But as the years go by, and certain events shape the lives, it is revealed that the child is the Antichrist. Yet, a man name Rich spoke to a woman from fox five named Martha saying “Martha, Anyone who cares at all about 666 or 06/06/06 is an idiot, ignore them. There are only two significant items so far today and they are the elections in the eight states and the bigger of the two being the anniversary of D-Day! Your show and all the FOX News show today should spend a lot of time remembering D-Day and those, living and dead, who participated in it. Rich.”
Rich is a perfect example of why some people do not fear the number because right now at this time it has no current value other than to be wary of an unbenounced threat that is yet to come. Still why were people so afraid of this day or the the mark of the beast, the number six hundred and sixty six (Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia). That is because in the Bible, Revelation 13:18 says: “Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred, three -score and six.” Quoted straight from truthperfected.com it states “The satanic connotations of 666 are ambivalent in the Kabbalah, however, where it is not only the number of the solar demon Sorath, the opposite of the Archangel Michael(an archangel and brother to the prince of darkness Lucifer). However, it is also regarded as a sacred number that depicts the entire Universe.” Further research into the any the biblical number of six hundred and sixty six does not give people a clear representation of this peculiar symbolic number, other than the number being referred in the New Testament.
The number 666 belongs to Hakathriel, also known as the Angel of the Diadem. In the Sacred Geometry, it is called the magic square of the Sun. This unfamiliar necomanancy square is constructed in such a way that the first 36 numbers add up to 111 on horizontal, vertical or diagonal planes. The whole square adds up to the number six hundred sixty six, and the significance of the number comes long before the Bible. The association of the number six-hundred and sixty six and the Sacred Geometry predates the bible.
An interesting fact is that the architects of Chartres Cathedral might have known about the earlier immensity of this number, since the entanglement there measures precisely 666 feet long. In the Book of Revelation it illustrates near apocalyptic world where more than one half of the world turning to the beast accepting him as their God. It speaks on signs of that the end is coming near illustrating certain events to come forth. People fear the number 666 because of they long dred the number as it is the mark of satan however, this is just “‘widespread misinterpretation'” of the chapter in the book Revelation. Associate professor of anthropology, Phillips Stevens, Jr., Ph.D., gives an explanation saying “like most superstitions, the avoidance of the numbers 13 and 666 are examples of magical thinking.”
He furthermore explains saying that people everywhere that things or objects connected through contact or indistinguishable have power over time and space. However, chapter 13 in Revelation announces that the Antichrist is a regular person who has be taken over by the power of Satan, which most likely explains how a person can forget how to be a “‘good Christian'”. “‘So, although ‘the beast’ is not Satan, in Christian tradition ‘the mark of the beast’ was authorized by Satan,'” Stevens goes on to say. “‘And so, like that other Christian superstition, Friday the 13th – from the Last Supper, where there were 13 people at the table, and the Crucifixion occurred the next day, a Friday – 666 has become a strong taboo, avoided because of its negative association.'”
With this being said like many superstitions its information is builded on false information. Telephone companies have seen a wall of customer opposition when they tried to install a 666 exchange for phone numbers. One of theses example was in Vancleve, KY, the home of Kentucky Mountain Bible College. They were given a phone number in mid 2002 with a “666” prefix. One of the staff members Carlene Light said: “People say, ‘You’re a Bible college and you have 666 in your phone number?’ It’s the connotation.
No one wants to be part of the mark of the beast.” Vice president Rob Roy MacGregor said: “In the secular world, 666 is not a problem. It is for us.” However, some people believe that seeing the number 666 is an indication that there is an imbalance or a shift in someone’s life. In the religion of Judaism, Jews believe that a messiah would one day come and bring balance to the world.
However, the messiah they invision is very different from the one Christian’s view as the messiah. When Christians think of the messiah they think of someone who is divine, However Jews believe that the messiah is a man who is the king of this world who will bring peace among the nations in this world. According to Jewish text there are three roles the messiah must complete in order to fulfill his roles. Number one is to establish the new government , Persuade everyone to have one religion and faith, and the final one is that he will rebuild the jewish temple or a new temple. What scares people however is that these are the exact same things the antichrist or the beast is promising.
How would one know if when this messiah figure comes, if it is the messiah or the antichrist. If the antichrist comes and builds a new temple it will not be the temple God promised because in the old testament God spoke of a physical temple while in the new testament he spoke of a spiritual temple. One build in a person’s body, a relationship with them and God. The Antichrist is going to destroy that Temple and form one religion where he is on top of it all. Because of all of this people believe that even though he is not here his number brings fear and curses to those who see his number. In the beginning of the warning about the beast, it was referred to emperor Nero (who truly was a beast), killed thousands of Christians.
He even crucified on of Jesus disciples, Peter on the cross upside-down. So it was common for them to use code to communicate to each other to have faith to the Christians that time. But, in 95 A.D. after Nero’s death, why did John continue to write about a beast if the one he was referring to was dead? Because he had visions of a beast like Nero, someone with high command over this world. Someone who would give people a choice of sacrifice, to choose him as a God figure, or to reject him and be killed.
The beast will reign for seven years and gain satanic powers after he is presumed dead after coming back from the dead. However, he has no power over the dead so it is best to presume he is using some type of trickery. He will reinforce his lawlessness and destroys all religions forcing everyone under one religion. With his mark he will have one currency where if people can not buy anything without his mark where he can always track you. Here is a couple of fun facts about the number six hundred and sixty six.
The number six hundred and sixty six is the quantity obtained by adding the first 36 natural numbers in the number system. 666 was the name given to the Mcintosh Sevendust virus in the year 1998. The bible touches on the number 666 three times. Adding 666 three times gives you 1998. 666 in Kabbalistic Judaism represents the creation of the World.
In San Francisco, the Church Of Satan carries the address PO 21 666. President Richard Nixon used the telephone that had the number 666-66666 to contact Astronaut during the 1969 Apollo landing. “Curse” is used 66 times in the New Testament of the bible and in the old testament, 6 times. In Israel, if you wish to make an overseas telephone call , you are required to dial 666 before the overseas number. If you are to take one unit from each of the existing Japanese currency denominations, they’d all add up to 666. In a Roulette wheel, sum of numbers gives you 666. A lot has been spoken about 666, especially in the context of its relevance in religion. Although a lot has been said, it isn’t concretely known if 666 is actually the number of the beast. If it is, we don’t what it means in its truest sense.
