Delivering a speech can be very nerve-wracking so it is exceptionally vital to know our audience while doing a speech. There are many tools we can use to assist us with this and the demographic analysis is one of those many tools. Undoubtedly, assisting us in avoiding biases, relating to and more importantly, understanding our audience and who we are talking to. Depending on the subject or even our message there are some crucial questions to consider before delivering an appropriate speech such as their age, a speech around “time and space” would be exceptionally different if we are talking with a bunch of school-age children versus a gathering of researchers. Moreover, is the audience basically a certain race, culture or ethnicity this might influence your message choice of word dialect, movements and other viewpoints of your speech. Furthermore, understanding our audiences’ demographics will play a huge role in how the speech will play out.
