Being a true advocate for your patient is of most importance. Sister Elizabeth Kenny is a great example of what being a patient advocate can do. She developed therapies for people with polio, through evidenced based practice she determined her therapies provided relief and helped those with polio (Meckel 2014). At the time this went against what many physicians suggested (Meckel 2014 ). . She continued to be an advocate for her patients and made history in doing so.
