Jordan Boyd Instructor Fox English 1010 19 September 2011 Classification of Shoppers In America today, there are many people that shop. Humans need to shop, because today’s generation has changed to where one has to buy everything. To obtain the necessities, the only thing that makes sense is that humans shop. However, there are different kinds of shoppers. On the outside, one may see an average person going to the store for an item, but on the inside, each shopper has different intentions, whether they know they have them or not.

The In and Out Shopper The in and out shopper is popular with American dads, and men in general. These are the people that go into the store with the list that their wife (or someone they live with) wrote up. The in and out shoppers, ten times out of ten, go into the store with certain items in mind, buy exactly what they intended, and leave. This explains the name “in and out shopper.

” These people go in and get out as soon as possible. They do not deviate from what they need because their main intention is to get out of the store in a timely manner. They are not usually seen dealing with coupons or found wandering around because they do not want to spend the time doing that. The Must Have ShopperThis shopper is probably the most common shopper in the commercial, American society. These are the shoppers that stores want, and who they set up their stores based on. All the candy, trinkets, sweets, magazines, gum and much more in the front of the store before you leave are set up precisely for these shoppers.

The must have shoppers may go in for a specific purpose, but they always get caught up on deals and junk that they “must have. ” They may go through the whole store getting only the necessities, but when they see a sale or something on a special rack, all of a sudden they must have that item. This is a terrible habit to make because it can be led to bad spending habits and bad money managment, but some people just cannot help themselves. The Window Shopper Usually, the window shopper is a frugal-minded one.

They could be any variety of person from teenage girl to adult male. These are the shoppers that love shopping, but never actually buy anything. These could be people wisely not spending their money, or they could also just be the people that shop just to shop. Never once does actually buying anything come to mind. The people could also be considered leisure shoppers-shoppers that shop as a hobby.

Going out and walking around trying on different things and finding neat knick-knacks may be relaxing to them, therefore they shop when they are bored or maybe even to cheer themselves up. This is a hobby to them just as painting or playing a sport is to other people. With all this in mind, the window shopper is not a buyer, yet they are still considered shoppers. Online Shopper There are three types of online shoppers. The first type is the person that shops online for convenience.

This person probably does not have a store of their choice near them; therefore they result to online shopping. Since this usually has to do with clothing items or books, the shoppers are mostly women. The next type of online shopper is the lazy one. There might be the store they want down the street from them, but they choose to stay in the comfort of their home and buy it online. Sure, people may do this every once in a while when they might not be having the best of days, but the continuous online shopping in this sense usually traces back to laziness. Therefore, this type of online shopper may be men or people that are out of shape. The third type of online shopper is the Deal-Get-er.

These are the people that shop online, solely because the internet has better offers. There may be deals that one can only get online, so the online shopper takes that opportunity to get the best deal possible. The Haters The last main group of shoppers is the haters.

These people are called the haters, precisely because they hate shopping. These are the people that shop because they have to, not because they want to.Haters would rather go without something than go shopping. Haters have their own reasons as to why they hate shopping, hut they all have the mutual hate of shopping.

The haters are most relatable to the in and out shoppers, because when a hater shops, they try to get in and out as quickly as possible, but there is one main difference. The difference is that in and out shoppers do not necessarily mind being at the store in the first place. They wait until they absolutely, positively need something before even considering shopping. Otherwise, they get someone else to shop for them.

The classification of shoppers could go on and on for a long time, as no two shoppers are exactly the same; however, these are the most important and most common groups of shoppers. In and out shoppers, window shoppers, must have shoppers, online shoppers and the haters are the main groups that make up the shopping world today. These groups are subject to change, but for so many years they have remained the same. People today, continue to prove these groups right, by naturally putting themselves into one; which keeps these groups true and strong.
