Blacklist/white-list based detection is the most widely deployed anti-phishing techniques used in browsers

Blacklist/white-list based detection is the most widely deployed anti-phishing techniques used in browsers,
like Google’s safe browsing API and Mozilla’s Firefox. Bayesian networks are used in anti-phishing
toolbars together with blacklist databases of phishing sites. Anti-Phishing Whitelist (APWL) allows each
user to establish a personal white-list and refuses any request that sending sensitive data to websites beyond the white-list. Black list contains list of webpages that has been black listed. White list contains list of genuine webpages. So here what happens is that whenever user comes across a web page it will be automatically checked, whether it a white-list or blacklisted webpage. The main weakness of the blacklist/white-list based solutions is in that they are not effective on pages that is previous unseen.
