As Individuals

As Individuals

As Individuals, our thoughts, opinions and beliefs are what make us unique, they reflect on the person we are and how we evolve over time. Although I believe we should not allow others persuade our beliefs, when someone who is significant states their point of view we have a tendency to alter our understanding. Shown in the memoir “Night” written by Elie Wiesel, Elie questions his belief on God because of his memories and what happened throughout his life. In “The Pianist” directed by Roman Polanski, the main character Wladyslaw Szpilman is degraded by the Germans; this causes him to change how he feels about himself and his occupation. These two examples show how easily an individual can be persuaded to change their personal beliefs and opinion based on what they see, or what they hear from someone important. The individual should create their beliefs based upon his or her opinion, rather than letting others around them dictate how they think for themselves.
