As care co-ordinator I view changes to legislation regarding the promotion of equality diversion and inclusion as a positive change in the way we work. In my role I ensure that we promote high qualities of care whilst ensuring that all staff, relatives and external professionals are putting the needs of the service users first.

In my role this includes:
– Promoting individuals rights, choices and wellbeing
– Promoting anti-discriminatory practice
– Staff development and training
– Supporting individuals from staff to service users to express their views without feeling compelled to express a certain view due to external pressures or fear of discrimination
– Dealing with conflict by identifying and challenging discriminatory views in a clear and effective manor through the use of supervisions, staff meetings and group discussions.
