Declaratory Act of 1766At the time that the Stamp act was repealed, the Declaratory Actwas introduced to the colonists. The Act stated that Parliament hadcomplete and total authority over the colonies. It said that Parliamenthad the power to make laws to govern the colonies, to tax them, andrule the colonies the same way as England. When the colonists foundout about the Act, they were outraged. The Sugar Act The sugar act was the first act after the French Indian war, which was in place to gain money back after the heavy costsof the French Indian war.
