A stab wound is a form of penetrating to the skin that results from a pointed object that is, “deeper than it is wide”. While typically stab wounds are commonly caused by knives, they can also occur from basically anything that has minimal surface area at a point and can have a large amount of force applied to it. Stab wounds can cause various internal and external injuries.
The extent of stab wounds can vary but they are far more dangerous than lacerations as cuts can heal faster as less layers of skin are damaged unlike stab wounds. Death from a stab wound is most often caused by organ failure or blood loss.
